Food for thought - Crown and Cushion

Camra country pub of the season 2007Nestling as we are in the heart of the glorious North Yorkshire countryside we take full advantage of this in our preparation of bar snacks and a la carte restaurant menus. We are particularly well known for our game dishes but, wherever possible, we source all ingredients locally and in this area where farming and country pursuits are embraced enthusiastically, game, chicken, beef, lamb and fresh vegetables are in abundance as is fish from the nearby coast.

We are particularly proud not just of our a la carte menu but also of the exciting and ever changing ‘Specials Board’ and range of bar snacks. Food can be enjoyed either in our comfortable restaurant, in the bar or, during the summer months, outside in the gardens if you prefer.

There is something in our menu to delight everyone – including vegetarians and children. In the case of the latter, we offer a special menu (*not available Saturday evening) where Whitby Haddock and chips and sausage and mash are always popular choices.

“Children welcome – accompanied by parent and wallet”

Another popular feature is our range of traditional Sunday roast lunches which is offered in addition to the varied menu choice and our extensive Wine List and range of drinks from the bar is here to complement your meal.

We will always endeavour to accommodate your requirements but, if at all possible, advance booking is advised in order to avoid disappointment.

“To be old and wise first you have to be young and stupid”
